I never knew how much my Grand Caravan was a part of my family’s life, until the day of my son’s final hockey game last season. After every game it’s been a ritual to load up the minivan with his equipment, drop off any friends who may have needed a ride home, and then make a stop for a hot chocolate and just sit in our driveway and talk about the game, or anything else that was on his mind that week. On the night of his last hockey game, I was exhausted from having a long week with so many things to do, that on the way home I drove right past the coffee shop. As I pulled into my driveway and was getting out of the minivan my son yelled out “Wait!” In a tired sigh, I looked at him, and at that moment remembered that I had forgot to make our regular stop. But to my amazement all he said to me was “thanks for driving me mom.” At that moment I realized that it wasn’t the hot chocolate that we both looked forward to, but sitting in our Grand Caravan and forming the relationship that we have today.
